    L'Albatros[Charles Baudelaire]

    Sovente, per diletto, i marinai catturano degli albatri, grandi
    uccelli marini che seguono, indolenti compagni di viaggio, il
    bastimento scivolante sopra gli abissi amari.

    Appena li hanno deposti sulle tavole, questi re dell'azzurro, goffi

    e vergognosi, miseramente trascinano ai loro fianchi le grandi,
    candide ali, quasi fossero remi.

    Come è intrigato e incapace, questo viaggiatore alato! Lui, poco
    addietro così bello, com'è brutto e ridicolo! Qualcuno irrita il
    suo becco con una pipa mentre un altro, zoppicando, mima
    l'infermo che prima volava!

    E il poeta, che è avvezzo alle tempeste e ride dell'arciere, assomiglia
    in tutto al principe delle nubi: esiliato in terra, fra gli
    scherni, non puo' per le sue ali di gigante avanzare di un passo.
